Summary
In this chapter, we looked at fields in Jira. We also looked at how Jira is able to extend its ability to capture user data through custom fields, and at applying searchers to these fields to make the data they capture searchable. We explored how we can specify different behavior for fields under different contexts through the use of field configurations and schemes. We also briefly introduced screens, which we will delve deeper into in the next chapter. Lastly, we put all these together by adding new custom fields to our HR project.
In the next chapter, we will expand on what we learned about fields by formally introducing you to screens, and will show you how combining fields and screens provides users with the most natural and logical forms to assist them with creating and logging issues.
