Chapter 3. Telephony Integration: Working with Sametime Telephony
In addition to its excellent messaging and collaboration features, Sametime supports the ability to make audio and video conference calls to people in your Sametime community. Sametime also has the capability to integrate into your organization's phone system to allow you to call your contacts regardless of whether they are online or away from their computer. This capability often referred to as "unified communications", means that you can maintain a single point of control for all your communication instead of bouncing between various systems.
The following are some examples of scenarios where a company or organization might want to integrate telephony into their Sametime system:
Phoebe is upgrading her Sametime 7.5 environment to Sametime 8.5.2, and her company is interested in integrating their VoIP system with Sametime 8.5.2.
