The IBM Db2 cluster technology, called pureScale, was introduced in 2010, in v9.8. Leveraging the architecture and design principles of Db2 data sharing on Z, pureScale has rapidly become a technological force in delivering shared data performance and unparalleled scalability. Db2 pureScale is comprised of four major components, which are shown in the following diagram:
- Members ( Db2 data sharing LPARS on Z)
- Cluster caching facility (coupling facility on Z)
- Shared disk storage
- Cluster services and interconnect
