Creating a developer account

To publish applications on Google Play, the first step that you need to take is to create a Google Play developer account. Head over to https://play.google.com/console/signup and log in with your Google account. If you don’t have one, you should create one first.

We recommend using a Google account that you plan to use in the long term instead of a throwaway one. Read the developer distribution agreement and agree to the terms of service.

Note

If your goal is to sell paid apps or add in-app products to your apps/games, you must also create a merchant account. This is not available in all countries, unfortunately. We won’t cover this here, but you can read more about it on the registration page or at https://packt.link/LDncA.

You must pay a $25 registration fee to create your Google Play Developer account. (This is a one-time payment). The fee must be paid using a valid debit/credit card, but some prepaid/virtual credit cards also...
