Using the InDesign Frame Tools
When it comes to content in InDesign, everything sits inside a frame. These frames can contain a wide range of content, including other INDD files, along with PDF, PSD, TIFF, EPS, JPG, DOCX, XLS, RTF, DOC, XLSX, TXT, SVG, MP4, MP3, GIF, and OAM files. This is something people don’t always realize, especially when some tools and processes, such as placing an image on a page (covered in Chapter 5), can seamlessly create a frame without you even realizing it.
In this chapter, we will learn how to create frames using the Rectangle Frame, Ellipse Frame, and Polygon Frame tools, as well as how to rotate, skew, align, and resize frames afterward. We will also look at how to use smart guides with frames, customize frame corners, insert a QR code into a frame, and finish off by using the Pathfinder tool to merge multiple frames together into a single compound frame.
