Licensing for gateways
Check Point hardware gateway appliances are sold with licenses that reflect their capacity, desired functionality, and additional components. Here, functionality refers to NGTP or NGTX packages, high-performance configuration, and clustering. Additional components include redundant power supply units, extra (or different) network interface cards, memory, and dedicated acceleration modules.
Open Server (and virtual machines defined as Open Server) gateways are licensed using core-pack bundles. These licenses are available in 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, and 32-core denominations and are sold as either NGTP or NGTX packages. The only exception is a 2-core license, which can be sold with the NGFW package (containing the Firewall and IPSec VPN blades). These licenses are not additive; for example, you may use a 4-core license and replace it with an 8-core license, but these cannot be combined to produce a single 12-core license.
