Summary

This chapter explored various applications of LLMs, such as ChatGPT, for education and legal practice. We began by looking at how LLMs can assist in creating course materials such as unit outlines, lesson plans, handouts, quizzes, and rubrics. LLMs are very useful for quickly generating quality educational content tailored to specific learning objectives.

Then, we examined key ways in which LLMs are being used in legal research and document review. Their NLP capabilities allow them to rapidly analyze large volumes of case law and contracts. While an attorney still needs to validate the LLM’s work, these tools can significantly expedite tasks such as prior art searches and due diligence.

Additionally, we discussed how LLMs can draft legal documents by incorporating a lawyer’s instructions and desired formatting. This can save attorneys time while producing an initial draft, though human review is essential to ensure accuracy. Beyond drafting, LLMs show promise...
