Conventions used
There are a number of text conventions used throughout this book.
Code in text
: Indicates code words in text, database table names, folder names, filenames, file extensions, pathnames, dummy URLs, user input, and Twitter handles. Here is an example: “It will create a Fizzbuz_02
object in memory, call the method, and expect the output.”
A block of code is set as follows:
if !defined?(count_to) or count_to<1 puts "Use: FizzBuzz01.rb (count)\n" puts "Where count is a round number of value one or higher" abort(""); end
Any command-line input or output is written as follows:
Finished in 0.001213s, 2473.2069 runs/s, 2473.2069 assertions/s. 3 runs, 3 assertions, 0 failures, 0 errors, 0 skips
Bold: Indicates a new term, an important word, or words that you see onscreen. For instance, words in menus or dialog boxes appear in bold. Here is an example: “ All the test does is go to Excelon Development’s main page, then click on Consulting, then Contact Us, and fill in the Contact Us form”
