Considering the cost and other key elements associated with the currently available vendor's storage options, it is always going to be a tough and wise decision to be made by any organization to finalize on a particular storage method. However, it is for sure that a good storage method is definitely going to have its share of contribution towards improving the database and application's overall throughputs.

Fundamentally, just before the required storage is being presented to the database server to fulfill the database's need, the storage and Operating System administrators have to go through a series of actions. In this context, they have to use several available storage and OS utilities to fulfill the request, for example, a volume manager to build the volumes on the OS to create a filesystem on it.
