Creating an Excel spreadsheet to run on the server
In this recipe you will see how to upload your spreadsheet to the server and use the Excel Web Part to expose its information within your SharePoint pages.
Getting ready
This recipe works for:
SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition
SharePoint 2010 Online (Office 365 Edition)
You will need an Excel spreadsheet (containing your data) and a SharePoint site with a document library where you wish to upload your spreadsheet. Excel services will need to be enabled on the server and the document library set as a trusted location (check with your SharePoint administrator if you are unsure about this).
To publish and upload the spreadsheet you will need Microsoft Excel 2010 and the Contribute permissions level.
For the second part of this recipe you will need a SharePoint page where you wish to insert the Excel Web Part.
You will need Design or Full Control permission level to insert the Excel Web Part onto the SharePoint page.
