Introducing Sametime Gateway

IBM Sametime Gateway is a stand-alone system for connecting your Sametime Community for instant messaging and presence awareness with other instant messaging communities. IBM Sametime Gateway enables real-time collaboration between your Sametime and:

External Sametime communities
Public instant messaging services such as AOL Instant Messenger
XMPP providers such as Google Talk and Jabber

The Sametime Gateway acts as a broker between those communities and your internal Sametime messaging community. It confirms that the external parties are valid and translates the protocols as necessary. All of this is transparent to the users.

Sametime Gateway can be installed as one server or as a cluster of servers using WAS. Sametime Gateway supports IPv6, but this must be enabled when the gateway is first deployed. Sametime Gateway requires an LDAP server for authentication as well as a DB2 database for storage of system-related files.
