What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

Cancellation Policy for Published Printed Books:

You can cancel any order within 1 hour of placing the order. Simply contact customercare@packt.com with your order details or payment transaction id. If your order has already started the shipment process, we will do our best to stop it. However, if it is already on the way to you then when you receive it, you can contact us at customercare@packt.com using the returns and refund process.

Please understand that Packt Publishing cannot provide refunds or cancel any order except for the cases described in our Return Policy (i.e. Packt Publishing agrees to replace your printed book because it arrives damaged or material defect in book), Packt Publishing will not accept returns.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

What tax is charged?

I bought this book, only to find out it doesn't cover ROS 2.0, jsut ROS 1.0. If you are using ROS 1.0, then this book looks really good. The diagrams and text were great, just dated.

The book looks like covering lot of topics and lot examples. But when you follow it to do project, you will find the reference code for this book will miss lot of piece file, such as launch file, parameter configuration file etc. When send email to Author and ask if he can send the missing files to me, no answer. I hate it !!!

For a beginner ROS developer, this is a good book for an intro, and has helpful documentation on general ROS concepts and specific ROS technologies such as the Navigation stack.

This book has better structure and formatting than the ROS wiki tutorials. The examples are well executed but, I recommend following along with the ROS wiki page tutorials. Sometimes the ROS wiki gives extra information.My school's online edition of this book has a typo. When creating the config.cfg file for example4.cpp pay close attention to the name given in the last line of the file.>> exit(gen.generate(PACKAGE, "chapter2_tutorials", "chapter2_"))There is an underscore in the last parameter name "chapter2_".This will generate the file chapter2_Config.hThe example4.cpp file is looking for chapter2Config.h (no underscore).You will need to remove the underscore or add an underscore to the example4.cpp file.Not sure if this is the appropriate forum a typo mistake,The book has been a great help!
