Customizing the default search experience
The default search experience can be customized in several ways. This includes new verticals for returning a more specific set of results, customizing available verticals for specific needs, and result types for formatting the result layout.
Adding new search verticals
New search verticals can be added at the tenant level or the site level. Tenant-level search verticals are visible in the whole tenant-wide search results and at the site-level or the hub-level search results if the site is promoted as a hub site.
As an example, let’s create a new Events vertical at the site level. Site-level search settings can be accessed from Search insights, while the configuration can be accessed from the Site settings page. On the Verticals tab, it is possible to add, remove, and edit custom verticals and out-of-the-box verticals. To create a new vertical, select Add. For vertical settings, do the following:
