Are you over-or under-certified?
Certifications can be a great plus on a resume and help you get the interview. In short, they are good things; however, like any good thing, there is a point where they can become negative. In the industry today, it seems everyone is offering certifications, but only a few have real value in the world of hiring.
Certifications that matter
So, what certifications matter? This is a rather simple answer – cloud provider certifications and a few vendor certifications, including Terraform and Kubernetes. The list is rather small as to what certifications will actually add value to your resume; for me, the only ones I list are my Amazon Web Services (AWS) professional certifications, leaving out lesser certifications.
