Understanding the importance of security, identity, and compliance on AWS

As is the case with any computer system, ensuring that it's secure and that only authorized users access the system is of paramount importance. Additionally, making sure that the system is compliant with corporate policies and government regulations is also critical.

AWS offers a plethora of security services to assist with these requirements. In this chapter, we will do a review of these services.

AWS is used both by the smallest of start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. If there is a security incident on a website maintained by one individual out of their mom's closet, they might lose their livelihood and it might be catastrophic to them. But the damage may only be a few thousand dollars and that individual may be able to recover after a few months, perhaps by creating a brand new website with new branding.
