Test Tools

Goal: Understand what the Test Tool entails and learn how to use and apply it.

The Test Tool is a feature that allows you to manage and run the automated tests that reside in the database that belong to either the standard application or any other extension and collect their results. With the various hands-on example tests, we will be using this tool a lot, and before we do this, let's elaborate a little bit on it.

You can easily access the Test Tool using the Tell me what you want to do feature in Dynamics 365 Business Central, as displayed in Figure 4.1.

Trying to access the Test Tool this way, you might notice Business Central can hold two test tools, as is also shown in the screenshot above. One called Test Tool and the other AL Test Tool. Depending on the setup of Business Central, it might even be the first one itself.
