Summary

In this chapter, we introduced the ArcREST Python package that can be used to efficiently script common tedious tasks in the ArcGIS web infrastructure, from ArcGIS Online to Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS for Server. Although ArcREST is commonly used for administrative tasks in the ArcGIS web infrastructure, we demonstrated use cases that can be adapted by any GIS technician or analyst throughout an organization. We want to make sure you understand that scripting for ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS for Server does not have to be designated to administrators within an organization. Hopefully, the information and examples provided in this chapter provide you with enough foundational knowledge to apply ArcREST to multiple use cases within your organization.
