Combining beyond core blocks

So far, we have only used the core blocks that come with WordPress itself. We haven’t looked at using blocks that perhaps come from a plugin within a pattern. It is worth noting that many plugins come with a range of patterns, either built in or via blocks that can be combined to create patterns.

It’s also worth remembering that many themes already come with patterns as well. We’ve explored this a little by treating the default themes as a source of inspiration. This is true for paid themes and those you might get from the WordPress theme directory. Often, though, these use core blocks as their sources – so let’s go beyond just those in our exploration now.

This shop plugin has a range of patterns, which are ready to use upon activation.

You can find them just as you would any other pattern under the pattern browser, as shown in Figure 8.15.
