Creating a new VMkernel interface for iSCSI or NFS
The software iSCSI adapter will use VMkernel's network stack for establishing sessions with the iSCSI targets.
By default it will use the management network's VMkernel interface vmk0
.
It is recommended to create a different VMkernel interface for iSCSI or NFS. This would become essential when the management network is in a different subnet. The software iSCSI adapter requires a VMkernel interface in the same subnet to which the iSCSI array is connected.

With the ESX server selected from the inventory, navigate to Manage | Networking | Virtual switches and click on the Add Networking icon:
