Migrating from an Oracle Streams environment to Oracle GoldenGate
Sometime back, Oracle announced in its statement of direction that it is no longer going to enhance Oracle Streams further. Although the existing Oracle Streams is still supported, many companies have started migrating the Oracle Streams based replication environments to Oracle GoldenGate. In this recipe, we will go through a step-by-step procedure for performing such migration.
Getting ready
The setup in this recipe consists of a Streams environment configured between two Oracle databases called DBORATES
and TGORTEST
running on prim1-ol6-112
and stdby-ol6-112
virtual machines. The streams replication has been set up as table-level replication for the SCOTT.EMP
table between both databases. The setup presented does not cover the steps required for setting up a Streams environment.
