Importing data with Microsoft Word and a Dynamics GP macro

Throughout this chapter, we've looked at a number of ways to send data from Dynamics GP to Microsoft Word and Excel. With this recipe, we'll look at using Word and Excel to bring data into Dynamics GP.

Microsoft offers a number of import tools for Dynamics GP, including Integration Manager, Table Import, and eConnect. In addition, there are third-party tools available, such as Scribe (http://www.scribesoft.com/microsoft-dynamics-gp.asp) and SmartConnect (http://www.eonesolutions.com/smartconnect/overview/). However, these tools are not included by default and some firms don't purchase them as part of their solution. Additionally, some areas of the system simply don't have reasonable options to import data.
