Styling Joomla! error pages
Joomla! allows for custom error pages to be displayed; you can entirely customize the look and feel of error messages to better target your website's audience.
Getting ready...
Copy the error.php
file located in the templates\system\
directory into your template's directory. Here we'll copy it into the templates\rhuk_milkyway\
directory.
How to do it...
1. Firstly, you need to change your Joomla! website's settings to allow you to use a custom error page. Log in to your Joomla! administration panel (for example, at
http://example.com/administrator)
, and go to Site | Global Configuration:
2. From here, look at the right-hand side of the screen and you'll see the SEO Settings panel. Set the Use Apache mod_rewrite setting to Yes, and then save the settings:

If you're working with a default installation of Joomla!, you will also need to rename the
htaccess.txt
file in the root of your Joomla! installation to.htaccess
