Why is WebSphere Application Server used with Sametime?
WAS provides Sametime 8.5.2 with the application server base to allow Sametime to be customized in many ways. WAS provides scaling, multiple deployment models, consolidated system management, consolidated security, network management, and clustering that was not as robust in previous versions of Sametime.
