Categorizing actions
I have to admit, when I talk about Actions, I get confused because of the different kinds available and the different places in which they can be set on the CRM. Let's classify them to understand their capabilities better.
We can define two macro types of Action:
GLOBAL ACTIONS
Object-specific actions
No surprise that GLOBAL ACTIONS refer to actions that can be used throughout the platform while object-specific actions are related to a specific Salesforce object.
In the following screenshot, we have highlighted some examples of these actions, Global at the top right and Object-Specific on the right:
We can further divide Action categories into the following:
Standard Chatter Actions
Default Actions
Mobile Smart Actions
Quick Actions
