Environmental factors can affect the performance of network devices and servers within an organization. Network professionals commonly configure and implement both software- and hardware-based sensors to detect temperature, humidity, and electrical power change on devices. If the temperature of a device is too hot, the operating system will automatically shut down to prevent physical damage to the hardware components of the device.
