Model-Based Engineering (MBE)
The Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) discipline – MBE with an "s" – is getting more and more popular. The primary language of MBSE is the OMG Systems Modeling Language (SysML) (Object Management Group: OMG Systems Modeling Language (OMG SysML), Version 1.5. formal/2017-05-01). SysML is only one of many possible modeling languages in the context of MBSE.
The intense use of models is only one piece of MBSE. The other one is systems engineering itself. Systems engineering is a wide-spanning discipline that covers many aspects of product engineering.
