Summary

When it comes to publishing and managing content on a Tableau site, there is a wide variety of functionality. End users can be provided with both workbooks and data sources. Workbooks can be published whole or as specific sheets that are relevant to end users. Data sources can be published and set to replace the existing data sources in a Tableau workbook.

Tableau Server and Cloud are not the only means of sharing Tableau content. PDF files, images, and data extracts in the form of Access databases and Excel crosstabs can all be exported directly from Tableau. Hard copies of Tableau workbooks can also be printed directly from Tableau Desktop.

When it comes to keeping data fresh on a Tableau site, extracts can be configured to run a full or incremental refresh on a regular basis.
