Summary
This chapter’s main objective was for you to create your own sustainable IT strategy and roadmap.
First, we introduced the sustainable IT strategic planning process, which gives you a set of guardrails on how to drive the process from start to end. This process guides you through what type of external and internal input you should collect in your sustainable IT strategic planning process and what outputs you should deliver. Secondly, we explored a real-world example from Siemens, which gave great insights into their overall sustainability journey and DEGREE framework and how IT contributes in multiple ways. Thirdly, we leveraged the sustainable IT strategic planning process to create our own sustainable IT strategy. We started by leveraging an example materiality assessment, formulating our enterprise sustainability goals and priorities, and finally creating an enterprise sustainability strategy.
