Configuring basic alerts
Configuring basic alerts is a great way to get started with understanding how the alert system works. We configure a basic alert by using the Basic Alert Manager application which is installed on the Windows Server that SolarWinds Orion NPM is installed on.
To access the Basic Alert Manager application perform the following steps:
Log into the SolarWinds Orion NPM server.
Navigate through Start | All Programs | SolarWinds Orion | Alerting, Reporting, and Mapping | Basic Alert Manager.
When the Basic Alert Manager application launches, the Quick Start screen is always displayed first. To get started, click on the Configure Alerts button in the main window.
The Configure Alerts window appears and lists all of the basic alerts already set up in Orion NPM. All of the alerts are disabled by default because the alert actions must be edited one by one.
