Using access reviews to validate team membership

Access reviews can be configured to allow you the ability to easily review team membership (group membership) on a regular basis. You can choose to regularly recertify memberships for members and guests alike. This helps improve your governance efforts by reporting on access to information regularly to those who have the ability to revoke and adjust those privileges (such as team owners). You can also have members self-certify continued membership as well to make the process more autonomous when appropriate.

Before you can create access reviews, you must be assigned as a Global or User administrator and have an Azure Active Directory Premium P2 license assigned to you. You'll also need to assign P2 licenses to anyone who will perform the following tasks:

  • Anyone assigned as reviewers, including group or application owners
  • Anyone performing a self-review
