Identifying the different technology layers
Now that you understand the basics of storage, your next step in building the right technology landscape is identifying the different technology layers. This exercise will help you in creating a context for understanding the different tools and technology components. In the previous chapter's final section, we discussed a platform framework. In that architecture, we discussed the 5 different layers—data generation, data capture, storage, analysis, processing, and presentation. We will use that as the base framework and develop from there.
In different industries and businesses, data might get generated differently. Big Data technologies do not get impacted by how the data is generated and how it is captured; the major focus of Big Data exists around storage, processing, and analysis.
