Using the Soft Body Goal
In the last step, before we bake in this simulation, we will learn how to use the Soft Body Goal to make the sphere follow a curve. If you remember the previous chapter, Goal allows you to pin and animate a soft body. The soft body’s “goal” is to try and get back to its original position, or where the origin point is. This is why, when you enable Goal, the object will just bob up and down: it’s trying to get back to the origin point.
So, what we are going to do is turn on Goal when the Soft Body Sphere enters the Glass Tube object. Then the sphere will follow the curve that is inside, bouncing and hitting the walls until it falls out the other side. Let’s go ahead and get started:
- First, we need to find when the sphere enters Glass Tube. Play the animation from the start to figure that out. For my simulation, it was at around Frame 432. Yours may be slightly different.
