Requirement-gathering techniques

Achieving requirements is the reason why a project exists. You must always ensure you have a lot of due diligence when capturing, maintaining, and using requirements to drive the project toward success.

In the CRP methodology, you must conduct several workshops focusing on requirements collection, understanding validation, and having a solution to the approach.

How good the requirements are depends on how they were collected; the purpose and technique of gathering requirements is a significant contributor. Based on our experiences, we recommend that you leverage a technique that uses the following three verbs:

  • Listen
  • Lead
  • Negotiate
