Understanding people and skills

We have referred to people and skills many times and even mentioned them briefly in Chapter 3, as both are required for successful observability implementations. It’s a common misconception that to set up observability, all one needs is a skilled observability team. That is only a half-truth. Since the application teams are responsible for developing and maintaining the application, there are certain skills that application teams must have to make observability implementation a success. We cannot reiterate enough that the observability team is just a facilitator, but the actual adoption and implementation are the applications team’s responsibility. Hence, the observability skills of the application teams are critical.
