Introduction


There could be many situations where you might encounter different performance problems, physical corruption, or bugs. In reality, the list of problems could be huge, especially when we administer a complex system. In order to detect and solve these types of problems, DB2 comes with plenty of diagnostic and problem determination tools.

To inspect memory consumption at instance and database-level, you can use the DB2 memory tracker. For more diagnostics, almost at any level, IBM provides a complex tool named DB2 problem determination. To analyze the database structure and solve space issues, or to extract data from unrecoverable databases, you may use the DB2 database analysis and reporting tool. To trace different problematic operations and to find bottlenecks, you may use application or process tracing, facilitated by DB2 trace.
