Default Microsoft Lists views
Whenever you create a list, a default view called All Items will be set up with it. As the name implies, it does not apply any filters and shows all items sorted by their creation date, with the oldest items on top. This view is shown by default when you navigate to the list, but once you have created other views, one of them can be set as the default.
With Microsoft Lists, you can now also switch between different view modes for the currently selected view. A view mode allows you to see the data from the current view in different ways:
- List is the default mode and shows the list data in the known tabular format.
- Compact List reduces the whitespace that is used for showing the data and allows you to see more list items on your screen compared to List.
- Gallery shows your list data on so-called cards, which are configurable and display a row of information.
To select a different view mode, open the View options menu in the top-right...
