Using metadata for captions
Image files can contain a variety of hidden data within them, which is known as metadata. This metadata can include details on the content creator, the location and date where the photo was taken, a description of the image, details on the camera used, and much more.
One nice feature of InDesign is that it allows you to use this metadata to generate captions for your images. This could be useful when working with documents that contain lots of images, where the designer may not be familiar with the contents of the images.
In this recipe, we will look at how to use this metadata to automatically generate captions for our images and how we can update these captions when the metadata is changed.
Getting ready
