Working with 3D in CSP – pros and cons
From 2018, we western users were finally able to use Modeler, with an official English release. This enabled us to create changeable 3D materials to use in CSP.
But there are some caveats that come along with the pros of using 3D materials, such as the time and effort we need to put in in order to create those basic objects and reusable scenes.
A quick summary of the pros and cons is as follows:
Pros:
- You can have reusable 3D assets from which you can extract lineart (EX version).
- You don't need to create AAA (Triple-A) game-level 3D object assets, so you don't need to worry about a lot of things. For example, all your models can just have texture painting on top of them.
- You can change and modify those assets, letting you create different situations with a single 3D material.
- They will speed up your workflow greatly, as you won't lose time sketching and setting a perspective grid.
Cons:
