Information security program

A program can be defined as a set of activities implemented in a structured way to achieve a common objective. A security program includes various activities such as implementing controls, conducting awareness campaigns, and monitoring and reporting on controls.

The security strategy is the guiding force for the implementation of the security program. The road map detailing the security implementation (that is, the procedure, resources, timelines, and so on) is developed based on the strategy. Based on a developed strategy, various implementation activities can be aligned and integrated to achieve the security objectives in a more effective and efficient manner.

The information security program should be aligned with the business objectives of the organization. The effectiveness of the information security program is determined based on its ability to address the impact of risk on the business objectives.
