We looked at the reasons for migrating from Drupal to WordPress in the previous recipe. The reasons are similar for Joomla-to-WordPress migration. Joomla is a pure CMS and is not as complex as Drupal. However, compared to WordPress, it requires an advanced learning curve as well as some development knowledge to get the most out of existing features. Joomla-to-WordPress migration is similar to the previous recipe: we have a set of data common to both CMSes.
In this recipe, we are going to use FG Joomla to WordPress, the only Joomla-to-WordPress migration plugin in the WordPress repository, to migrate the data from the Joomla site to an existing WordPress site.
