Introduction

Internet Information Services (IIS) has become a key component in Windows Server. With IIS you can host publicly facing websites and internal intranets, as well as integrate with enterprise applications, such as SharePoint, Exchange, and System Center. IIS provides a central component of Windows Server that allows systems and applications to be expanded into more complex configurations.

This chapter covers how to install, configure, manage, and maintain IIS websites on Windows Server 8. In addition to basic management of IIS, this will also cover monitoring and reporting on IIS, using NLB for load balancing, and utilizing a development/staging/production configuration/promotion scheme.
