Browsing websites
Every iPhone comes with the Safari browser, which is similar to the Safari browser found on every Macintosh (you can always download and install other browsers on your iPhone, but this chapter focuses exclusively on using Safari).
To browse any website, you just need to know the website address, such as www.yahoo.com or just apple.com. Once you know which website to visit, you need to type that information into Safari.
Note
You do not need to type in the complete website address, such as https://www.yahoo.com
. It's often simpler and faster to type only the website name (such as yahoo
) and its domain (such as .com
), rather than typing in https://
or www
.

The first time you start Safari, you must type a website address to visit anything on the internet. From that point on, Safari keeps track of the websites you've visited, so you won't have to type the complete website address again to visit that site.
