Summary

In this chapter, we saw some industry use cases for level control and the unique challenges faced by machine builders and software developers to maintain and monitor levels in industrial applications. We saw that, in such applications, reaction times are not too critical. In addition, we saw that level control applications are not the primary function of the machines involved, yet if the level control applications fail or do not perform as desired, it can result in machine stoppages or even wastage.

We introduced you to simple level control applications such as the overhead tank filling that we see in our daily lives, which gave you a perspective of the challenge. We then provided an analogy of industrial applications and detailed the concept of level control and ways of maintaining and monitoring it.
