A different decomposition pattern is related to the Domain-Driven Design (DDD) approach. To define services, it is necessary to identify DDD subdomains. Just like business capability, identifying subdomains requires knowledge of the business context.
The main difference between the two approaches is that with decomposing by business capability, the focus is more on the organization of the business (its structure), whereas with decomposing by subdomain, the focus is on the problems that the business tries to solve.
