Summary
We have now mastered all the basics of working with the Terminal. You have seen over 50 commands and how to combine them with piping. Imagine writing GUI frontends for all these tasks – this would be a lot of work. All presented tools are periodically updated, always providing more and more information and features.
For the rest of the book, most of the tasks we will perform will be done via the Terminal. In the next chapter, we continue with the Package management and all the information on dependencies. We will explore pamac and pacman in detail. We will then switch to Environment variables, which allow us to modify how some applications work. We will finish with a short introduction to Licenses, which are the basis of Free and Open source software.
