Writing code with HTML
HTML, like any other code, is created within a text file. In the case of HTML, the text is highly structured using a set of HTML tags. You can think of the tags as being like keywords in a programming language, except these are set apart using angle brackets. Remember, HTML is for content structure and layout. It was created by Tim Berners-Lee (not Al Gore) as a way to present scientific journal articles on the internet’s predecessor called the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (DARPANET). This is an adjunct of the United States Department of Defense. One problem in the scientific world with this was the time it took to publish a peer-reviewed journal article.
