Summary
In this chapter, you learned what Synapse Analytics is and what components it comprises. You provisioned a Synapse Analytics workspace and a dedicated SQL pool in it. You created some tables and learned about table geometries and how to choose the correct geometry for your tables. You then populated some tables with data stored in the data lake. We will continue with data loading in Chapter 11, Implementing ETL Using Azure Data Factory.
There is more to dedicated SQL pools than what we can explain in one chapter. We encourage you to go through the official documentation at docs.microsoft.com to learn about all the available features.
We will continue this book by learning about Data Vault in the next chapter, Chapter 9, Data Vault Modeling.
Do not forget to pause your SQL pool at this point. Keeping it running may cost you a lot of money.
