Implementing operating system security by using Group Policy
As we learned throughout this chapter, Windows Server was designed to be secure out of the box, with a myriad of features and by-default configurations. However, there are many organizations that are required to have more granular control over their configuration, management, and security configurations.
Microsoft has, over the years, provided security baselines that help to give a deeper understanding of and insight into guidance on security-related settings beyond the default configuration. There are thousands of configuration items and policy settings to go through, and it takes time and effort to review each one of them.
