The automotive industry is going through a major transition due to autonomous driving (AD), software-defined vehicles (SDVs), and connected vehicles. AD refers to vehicles that can operate without human intervention. These vehicles use advanced technologies such as sensors, cameras, radar, and artificial intelligence (AI) to navigate and make decisions on the road. An SDV is a concept where much of the vehicle’s functionality is controlled and defined by software rather than traditional hardware. This approach allows for greater flexibility and adaptability as features and functions can be updated or modified through software updates, similar to how apps are updated on a smartphone. Connected vehicles are equipped with communication technologies that allow them to share data with other vehicles, infrastructure, and the cloud.
