Amazon EFS delivers a managed, high performance, highly available, and highly scalable network filesystem solution that we can use in the cloud. It is designed for applications and users that require the use of a common data storage area that can be accessed via a standard Network File System v4 (NFSv4) protocol and is able to deliver NFS datastores of unlimited sizes.
While the EFS service has been designed to match the characteristics and durability and availability of S3, there is no upfront fee for using it and we only pay for the storage consumed. As of this writing, it does not have an officially published SLA to determine the exact percentage of availability, but since it is designed with replication across multiple availability zones within a region, it is highly available.
